I’ve been wearing glasses since the end of 4th grade (I’m now in my 20s) but I can’t say I relate to a lot of what was said in this article.

At first, I was upset to hear I needed glasses in fear of being mocked (I wasn’t — all my friends were supportive). Eventually, I grew to accept them. Now, they’re a part of who I am. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked the question, “Why don’t you just get contacts?” To answer, I don’t like touching my eyeballs and second, I like my glasses.

While everyone else seems to hate theirs, I don’t feel the same. Sure, I get annoyed when they get in the way of me resting my head on my boyfriend’s chest but that’s about it. I’ve learned to accept they’re always there and equally needed but I don’t let them hold me back.
